Em 2008, os Correios de Macau, iniciaram a Terceira série de emissões filatélicas, dedicadas ao Ciclo Lunar. Se na primeira série, emitida entre 1984 e 1995, o destaque foi para os desenhos animados dos Doze Animais e na segunda, entre 1996 e 2007, para as suas cabeças, representadas com um traço simples, esta nova série, tem por base os os ‘Cinco Elementos’ – Metal, Madeira, Água, Fogo e Terra.
